About
Okanagan Film House was built around a simple belief — how something is seen shapes how it’s understood. Every project is approached with the same commitment to story, honesty, and craft. We take the time to understand what’s behind the work, who it’s for, and what it needs to communicate. The result is always something that feels true to the people and the purpose it represents.
How we approach the work
Every project starts with the same question — what needs to be understood here? Sometimes that’s the story behind a person or an organization. Sometimes it’s the atmosphere of a place, the energy of an event, or something that’s been difficult to communicate through words alone. Whatever the project is, the process begins with listening. Understanding the context, the audience, and what the work needs to do before anything is planned or produced. Story, tone, pacing, emotion, and detail all shape the final result. The goal is always work that feels visually strong, honest, and true to whoever it represents.

Joseph Thon
joe@okanaganfilmhouse.studio
Joe is a filmmaker from South Sudan, raised in Kenya, and now based in the Okanagan. He picked up a camera not as a hobby but as a way of seeing — and that hasn’t changed. Over the years he has worked with nonprofits, hotels, startups, hospitality brands, and organizations across British Columbia, building a body of work that spans brand films, event coverage, documentary-style production, and commercial work. One of his projects was selected for a national TV ad campaign — a milestone that speaks to the standard he holds every piece of work to, regardless of scale.
His background across multiple countries and cultures has shaped a perspective that goes beyond technical skill. He understands what it means to be represented well, and what it costs when that representation falls short. That awareness sits behind every project, every creative decision, and every conversation with a client.
Outside of production, Joseph is deeply rooted in Okanagan life. Playing soccer, hiking, riding bikes, walking downtown, enjoying the food, watching birds, jumping into the lake in the summer — the valley has become home in every sense of the word. The people, the pace, the light, and the landscape here continue to shape the way he sees.
What working together feels like
Open, clear, and grounded. The creative direction is shaped together, the production is handled with full attention, and communication stays honest throughout.
If that approach resonates, we’d be glad to hear about your project.
